Is agriculture a dying business in Florida and in America?

whodat's comment on the Highlands today article is a reasonable and reasoned response. I find it surprising, however, that farmers are having difficulty competing with the high level of agricultural subsidies for them and import restrictions and tariffs against foreign farmers. It looks like NAFTA is working as it was intended and peasants and workers will soon be at starvation levels.
