"I wear it willingly like a cloak"- Is this a metaphor?

I am yzing a poem. The poem is about an old farmer living by himself in the country. The man is lonely and only has his animals for company. He talks about the cattles breath mingling with his then goes onto say "I wear it willingly like a cloak". Is this, a metaphor or imagery? or something else?
