What did Edvard Munch contribute to Art?

The most famous visual expression of anxiety ever - The Scream. In addition he was a very influential symbolist, he also explored the theme of the femme fatale. Many people consider that Munch was a misogynist when in point of fact he was intimidated and fearful of women, not full of hate for them. He was a masterful printmaker i.e. Madonna. He used the themes of love and to express his own inner turmoil. In later years he explored family groupings and his own declining age and vitality.
